Bengaluru has a bustling food scene. From swanky breweries, and cosy cafes to happening party spots, there’s something for everyone. But what about those who work late night shifts and crave a good meal? The options are few and that’s exactly what Bruhat Bangalore Hotels Association (BBHA) aims to cater to. Bengaluru’s eateries might be open 24/7 to satisfy late-night hunger pangs. The talks are in the works.
Bengaluru May Allow Eateries To Stay Open 24/7
According to a report by Hindustan Times, BBHA has urged the Karnataka government to permit eateries in Bengaluru to remain open 24/7. The President of this association, PC Rao stated to Hindustan Times that they want this to be implemented as it’s beneficial to their stakeholders. He goes on to add that many vendors don’t have access to washrooms and clean drinking water after midnight as eateries are shut.
So, by eateries working around the clock, this will increase employment too. To discuss this further, members of the association met the new Congress government and police department. Next, they are all set to meet the Karnataka home minister. BBHA believes by keeping eateries open 24/7, both foreign investments and revenue will increase in commercial neighbourhoods.

Only For Hotels, Bakeries & Restaurants Not Serving Alcohol
But if eateries are open 24/7, residential areas may have issues with noise pollution. For this, Rao stated to Hindustan Times that only hotels, bakeries and restaurants that do not serve alcohol and are located in commercial areas may remain work around the clock. This decision is taken for two reasons. The first one is, for security reasons. And second to not disturb residential areas.

While eateries can currently remain open till 1 am in Bengaluru, BBHA is on a mission to get permits for much longer than this. This move can certainly offer more late-night food options for those working night shifts, who have to often resort to roadside eateries. With more hygienic eatery options, their late-night hunger pangs can be taken care of.
But the question remains, will this worsen traffic in an already traffic-clogged Bengaluru? We’ll have to wait and see.
