Thailand is known for its tourism and is a beloved holiday destination among Indians. When it comes to visas, Thailand has visa-free entry for Indians, which makes planning trips very easy. But news broke a few months ago that this visa-free travel might shortly come to an end. However, we have good news! The visa-free immigration policy for Indians into Thailand has been extended “until further notice.”
More About Thailand Extending Visa-Free Policy For Indians
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has extended the visa-free entry period from 30 days to 60 days, allowing visitors to stay for tourism and short-term business engagements for up to 60 days. This extension can be extended at the immigration office for an additional 30 days.
According to tour operators, the cost of applying for a visa in the past, including the required paperwork such as bank statements, foreign exchange, and hotel reservations, was approximately ₹3,000 per person, as reported by Telegraph India.
Thailand’s Tourism Authority reported a surge in Indian tourists between January and October, with 16,172,291 visiting the country. This figure is higher than the same period last year, as reported by Telegraph India.
The growing traffic has led to airlines expanding their Calcutta-Thailand flights, with IndiGo announcing a second flight from Calcutta to Bangkok in November and Thai Air Asia launching a direct flight to Phuket from Calcutta.

Other factors include eased travel restrictions, data-driven advertising, and the country’s vibrant nightlife. Businesses can use consumer data to create personalised ads, leading to increased bookings. The industry is a key driver of Thailand’s economic growth, contributing 21.9% to the country’s GDP in 2019.
Thailand’s cultural and geographical significance makes it a popular tourist destination, boasting stunning beaches, rural getaways, Buddhist temples, and shopping malls.
