Indian Travellers To Not Have The Need To Carry Cash?
Once the complete integration of the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) with the digital payments architecture in the UAE is achieved, travelling for Indians to the UAE is going to become a lot easier. They will hardly have the need to carry any cash, as they would just be able to make payments through their phones. This was revealed by the Consulate General of India, Dubai. So, if this really does happen, Indian travellers and expats might be able to make payments with just their smartphones!
UPI To Make Payments Easier In The UAE For Indians
The details were revealed during an event, which was organised by the NPCI International Payments Limited. This is the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India. As it raised awareness about the expansion of UPI in the UAE, it was also revealed in the same breath that 5.5 million Indian tourists visited the UAE in 2024.

The Future Of Bilateral Financial Ecosystem
In fact, the Gulf News also revealed that with the integration of the UAE’s AANI and India’s UPI, the bilateral financial transaction ecosystem is bound to be revolutionised. So basically, Indian travellers who are coming to the UAE might just have the requirement to carry their smartphones and passports without having the need to carry cash.
This is bound to make the stay all the more seamless and payment processes faster, without having to struggle with cash while making payments.
