Google Techie From Poland Asked To Get Off Bengaluru Cab For Asking Driver To Use Earphones

It’s common to find cab or auto drivers talking on the phone while ferrying passengers. Most drivers use earphones instead of talking on loudspeaker. However, recently a software engineer from Google stated on X (formerly Twitter) that his cab driver in Bengaluru was talking to his mate on the loudspeaker instead of using earphones. Irritated, the engineer asked him to use earphones. Read on to know what happened next.

Google Engineer To Get Out Of Cab By Bengaluru Driver

Raj Vikramaditya, a Poland-based software engineer was in the Silicon Valley of India for a trip. Taking to his handle X named Striver, the man shared a picture of the number plate of the Uber cab he booked. Supplementing the picture with a caption, he stated “First bad experience in Bangalore.” The X user tagged Uber India and explained that he booked an Uber cab with an estimated journey time of 1.5 hours. 

For the first 30 minutes of the ride, the Bengaluru driver constantly talked on the phone on a loudspeaker. After a while, Raj Vikramaditya and his friend got a headache and politely asked the driver to use earphones or talk later. Then, the software engineer asked Netizens to guess what happened later. The Uber cab driver abused the duo and asked them to get out of the cab. The driver told them he wasn’t uncomfortable driving people like them.

Uber India responded to Vikramaditya’s post and asked him to share specific details about the trip so they could look into the matter closely. The cab aggregator asked the Google techie to share his registered contact details via direct message. Later, the Google engineer clarified that Uber reached out to him. He thanked Uber for their quick response and for taking time out to listen to his problems instead of sending bot messages.

Netizens Wonder What’s With Drivers Always Being On The Phone

Netizens took to the comments section of his post to share incidents when their cab drivers were constantly on the phone. Many wondered why it had become the norm for most cab drivers to be on the phone.
