The world is slowly opening up for tourism, at least for vaccinated travellers for now. After Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Seychelles, Greece too has opened for vaccinated travellers. And if Greece is on your mind, then here’s everything you must know before planning a trip to Greece.

Who can visit Greece? 

Greece is welcoming vaccinated travellers from UAE and several other countries. Travellers from EU and Schengen countries, Serbia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, Rwanda, Singapore, Russia and the UK, can now travel to Greece. 

What are the quarantine rules for travellers in Greece? 

Vaccinated travellers who can prove that they have taken both the doses of the covid-19 vaccine can enter Greece without having to quarantine upon arrival. Besides this, people who provide a negative Covid-19 test certificate also get a self-isolation exemption.

Things that you must keep in mind before flying to Greece

If you are planning to visit Greece soon, then you must know that all travellers will have to fill a Passenger Locator Form at least 24 hours before entering the country. The form should include your hotel address and complete information for the first 24 hours of your visit. Once you fill the form, you will receive a confirmation email about the same with a QR code that you must show while boarding the flight. 

Who needs to take a PCR Test before flying to Greece? 

Fully vaccinated travellers don’t need to take a PCR test unless the airline they are travelling with asks for it. Travellers should carry their vaccine document with them. Other travellers will have to produce a negative covid test report, which shouldn’t be taken more than 72 hours before arriving in Greece. Children’s under the age of five are exempted from taking the test. 

Which airlines can I board from the UAE for Greece?

UAE travellers can board a direct flight to Greece. The travel time is five hours, and you can board a flight from Dubai with rates starting from AED 2,595. You can also fly from Abu Dhabi with Etihad airways. Besides this,
Aegean Airlines and Wizz Air also have flights between the two capitals.

Which places can one visit in Greece? 

Greece is fully open to visitors so you can choose the destinations as per your liking. From the picturesque islands of Santorini to off-beat places like Kefallonia or Milos, there’s something for everyone. 

Set of restrictions in place in Greece

Even though the quarantine rule is waived off, there are some rules that all travellers need to follow. Wearing face masks is mandatory by all means, and those who don’t wear them have to bear have a hefty fine for the same. There’ll be a curfew from 12 30 AM to 5 AM, and one needs to follow that.

What is open in Greece? 

Beaches are open in Greece, but one needs to follow all the social distancing rules. Archaeological sites and museums are functional but limited capacity. Open-air cinemas will also open from May 21, with 75 per cent capacity. And from May 28, live events including theatre, concerts and dance performances will start in open-air venues at 50 per cent capacity.
