Lion Safari Park To Be Unveiled At Gujarat-Diu Border

The Gujarat-Diu border is all set to get an amazing new lion safari park. It is hoped that this new park will prove to be a huge attraction for tourists and will receive a large number of visitors. This park will be created in such a way that it recreates the ambience of the renowned Sasan Gir which is also popularly known as the Gir National Park.

In addition to hooved animals, this new safari park will house a total of two pairs of lions and four cubs. These lions will all be zoo-bred so that the transition for the lions doesn’t seem too drastic. According to an article recently published by India Times, the initial steps to build the safari par have already been taken by the Gujarat Forest Department.

As per the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Nityanand Srivastava, proper work will begin on the safari park once the design proposals for the park are officially submitted by the appointed architect. The article also mentions that the department will be saved from the trouble of looking for usable land as Diu has a forested area just 7.7 kilometres away.

A Bit To Boost Tourism Along The Coastal Highway Route

This new safari park can be seen as an effort to boost tourism along the coastal highway route, which is popular among tourists. The Ambardi safari park which is located close to Dhari was initially meant for visitors heading towards Tulsishyam as well as Diu. However, it turned out that tourists preferred the coastal highway route.

Hence, this new safari park will be established near the coastal highway route to attract more tourists. What is more, the government is also planning on creating another safari park in the Kevadia town of Gujarat’s Narmada district. It will be located close to the Statue of Unity so the location can be capitalised on and will span a whopping 375 acres.

It will also feature a geodesic dome aviary. A geodesic dome aviary is a lattice structure wherein birds can freely fly around and visitors can observe them in a natural setting.
