Gulf Air, the esteemed national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, embarked on a historic journey today with the inauguration of its maiden flights to AlUla International Airport. This momentous occasion marks the commencement of biweekly direct flights connecting Bahrain and AlUla. Operating from February 3rd to March 6th and resuming from April 10th to April 27th, these flights signify a strategic move towards enhancing regional connectivity.

Driven by the visionary goals of the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, the introduction of direct flights signifies a pivotal step in establishing air connectivity with diverse international and domestic destinations. This strategic move aims to position AlUla as a burgeoning global logistics hub in the northwest region of the Kingdom. Finally, it aims to facilitate seamless travel and trade.

AlUla International’s Remarkable Transformation

In recent years, AlUla International Airport has undergone a significant transformation. Also, it has witnessed a series of projects aimed at elevating its efficiency in welcoming travellers. Achieving international airport status in March 2021, the airport’s total area has expanded to an impressive 2.4 million square meters. Notably, the apron’s capacity has surged, now accommodating up to 15 aircraft simultaneously, enhancing operational capabilities. The expansion of flight operations and the concurrent development of airport infrastructure align seamlessly with AlUla’s ambitious objectives. Aspiring to welcome two million visitors annually by 2035, AlUla strives to emerge as a leading model for a practical and sustainable tourism strategy. This approach ensures the destination’s perpetual uniqueness, positioning it as a premier global tourist attraction in the years to come.
