As Hajj 2025 approaches, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is truly going all out and preparing for the influx of pilgrims, not just from the nation but from around the world. Since they will be travelling to Mecca, which is the holy city in Islam, one of the main entry points for international tourists happens to be the King Abdul Aziz International Airport, which is in Jeddah. About 77 km away from Mecca, there are different ways in which pilgrims can travel to the holy city from the airport.

Making travel easier for the pilgrims, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is offering multiple transportation options for a convenient journey to the sacred city. As revealed in a report by the Gulf News, these are options that range from Haramain Railway to shuttle buses. As highlighted by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, there are several transportation choices available to the pilgrims that allow them to travel from Jeddah Airport to Mecca.

Haramain High-Speed Train
As evident from the name, this train service operates from the station that is located at the airport. This makes it all the more convenient and of course, offers swifter connection to the holy city.
Transportation Apps
There are several ride-hailing apps that are available for pilgrims. It is another convenient option if people are looking for a personalised journey.
Shuttle Buses And Licensed Taxis
With numerous shuttle buses and licensed taxis available for a trip to Mecca, this ensures pilgrims can reach their destination easily.
Vehicle Rental
Finally, pilgrims can also opt for vehicle rentals, which is another great, flexible travel experience.

Other Developments To Take Note Of
As there is going to be high demand, the Saudi Transport General Authority has revealed its plans to support pilgrims during the season. Yes, they plan to do so with increased capacity, with over 25,000 buses and 9,000 taxis solely dedicated towards transporting pilgrims. In fact, 180 inspection supervisors across 20 sites at the entrance to the holy city of Mecca and Medina, including other sites, have also been deployed.
Since thousands of Muslims are expected to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj, the transportation infrastructure is being enhanced to ensure there is smooth and secure pilgrimage.
