The reason golgappa, or pani puri, is so well-liked is that it’s inexpensive, accessible, and adaptable. Its flavours also alter in addition to its name. Only those who enjoy spicy flavours add teekha pani to the puri; those who prefer sweet flavours, on the other hand, add dates and tamarind chutney. In addition to hing and pudina flavour water, there is a Coca-Cola pani puri by @planes_to_plates (Saista Shaikh).

The recipe is as follows:

  • Start by taking the ingredients: coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies, ginger, jeera powder, coriander powder, hing, amchur powder, black salt, salt, chilli powder, tamarind water, chat masala and water.
  • Start by blending the ingredients for theekha pani and don’t forget to add ice.
  • Now, strain the mix through a sieve and add water to it.
  • Then, add Coca Cola in teekha pani and it is ready.
  • Now, start assembling the pani puri by taking the puri and filling it with a potato mix.
  • Now, you can enjoy this Coca-Cola pani puri!

According to legend, Draupadi created the golgappa when the Pandavas were exiled and her mother-in-law, Kunti, wanted to test her ability to provide for the family. She gave Draupadi enough dough for one puri and some remaining aloo ki sabzi, which she used to make several little shells into which she filled the leftover aloo sabzi and fed the Pandavas.

1. Golgappa

The name “gol gappa” is a prevalent one in North India for pani puri. The well-known variant has a tangy pani made of tamarind and a crispy puri packed with a spicy mashed potato mixture. A mixture of spices, mint, and coriander is usually used to make pani, which gives it a refreshing taste. The dish’s creamy mashed potato filling blends with the taste.

2. Pani Puri

The crispy puris are stuffed with a mixture of sprouts, boiling chickpeas, and mashed potatoes. The range of flavoured waters distinguishes pani puri made in Mumbai from other varieties. Made with tamarind, coriander, and mint, pani is usually fragrant, acidic, and spicy with a tinge of sweetness. To improve the overall flavour, sweet chutney made with tamarind and dates is added.

3. Puchka

Puchka, as pani puri is known locally in Kolkata, is a distinct treat. The main difference between puchkas and other versions is the tangy tamarind water used in them, which tastes a little sweeter and spicier. Mashed potatoes, black grammes, or spice-infused sprouts make up the filling. Tangy water and a tasty filling combine to create puchkas, a favourite street snack in Kolkata.
