UAE’s biggest thali weighing a staggering 13 kilograms is being served at Amala on the Palm, featuring 35 north Indian delicacies in one giant platter.
What Is It?
It has been named Amala’s ‘Shaheenshahi Thali’, which translates as the ‘King of Kings’ (and we agree). The massive spread will set you back AED 600 which is meant to be shared among 4 people so it works out to AED 150 per head. Also, you will need to make a reservation, 24 hours in advance. The restaurant is housed in the swanky Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, but its a thali so who cares about table manners.
The hotel’s chef de cuisine Dirham Haque has worked for ITC Maurya’s famous Dum Pukht restaurant in Delhi, and says the thali will take guests on an “exciting culinary trip to the dining rooms of India” He also added that age-old Mughal favorites like Firdausi biryani and Miskin nihari are a few of the exciting things you will find on this gigantic plate. The thali is available every day for dinner and on Friday & Saturday for lunch as well.
