The Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong offers the best aerial view in the city, has world’s largest indoor Chinese silk mural and also teaches you the art of making dimsums.
What Is It?
Soaring up to 56 floors Island Shangri-La offers one of the largest & luxurious rooms in Hong Kong Island. Given that most hotel rooms in Hong Kong are cramped, this one surely feels like luxury! The rooms here either overlooking the Victoria Harbour or Victoria Peak and each comes with an automated key to access the room. Sharing the same building with Pacific Mall in city centre, the hotel has 531 super rooms, 34 premium suites, 8 lavish restaurants, a 24-hour gymnasium, a 645 square meter ballroom and 6 function rooms.
What’s In It?
The interiors reflect the elegance & grandeur the brand is known for. I was particularly impressed by the world’s largest indoor Chinese silk mural measuring 16 storeys tall. Created by 40 artists, it took six months to craft this masterpiece.
The Restaurants
The Horizon Club Lounge situated on the 56th floor is one of its kind on the island offering breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour. A perfect spot to record a time lapse of the city. Although the hotel offers 8 lavish restaurants, Michelin Starred Summer Palace as well as Lobster Lounge attract a lot of attention from the upmarket crowd of Hong Kong. An 8-course meal here is definitely one of the must-do things in Hong Kong!
<<Image of a meal at shangrila>>And if that’s not enough, learn the art of making dimsums right there. The Chef will take you on a culinary journey and demonstrate how authentic dimsums are actually made.
Cafe TOO, on level 2 is where everyone gathers for breakfast or buffet meals. It features a teppan, a semiprivate room, a cafe bar and 10 kitchen theatres, which are brought to life by a team of specialist chefs.
