Heavy rainfall has triggered a landslide on Mata Vaishno Devi’s new route track in the Reasi district atop the Trikuta hills. Authorities have temporarily suspended battery car services on this route due to the landslide. They have redirected devotees to use the older path leading to the temple. As per the report in The Times of India, heavy rainfall on Monday caused a massive landslide on the new route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. While no injuries or casualties were reported, the authorities have suspended the battery car services, which help passengers move along the route.
However, the pilgrimage continued smoothly as the devotees were redirected to the traditional old route. The landslide occurred near the Satya viewpoint along the Himkoti path, during a time when there was no pilgrim movement, which helped avoid any accidents or injuries. An X user, @sidhshuk, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, shared this video depicting the aftermath of the landslide on the new route.

Shrine Board Begins Cleanup Of The Route
The Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board immediately deployed personnel and machinery to begin clearing the debris on the affected route. The landslide has impacted a section of more than 30 feet. As per the TOI report, officials confirmed that clean-up operations are underway, and battery car services may resume shortly.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours. It has raised concerns about the further disruptions that might happen. To prevent that, the shrine board is working diligently to restore the route. They aim to ensure that pilgrims can continue their sacred journey safely. As per KKN Live, police officers and CRPF personnel have been stationed at key points along the path to manage emergencies.
We hope the cleanup services are completed soon and that the battery car service resumes without delay. The landslide has not only disrupted pilgrimage movement but also made it harder to transport supplies.
