Tripura has witnessed heavy rainfall in the past 48 hours, which has caused flash floods in the region. Belonia and Agartala witnessed severe devastation on Wednesday and at least 10 people have been reported dead so far with several injured. According to reports, nearly 34,000 people have been placed in 331 relief camps in all of the eight districts of the state.

Relentless and heavy rainfall since Monday has created havoc in Tripura. The downpour increased in the last 48 hours and has triggered flash floods in the state. The devastating floods have caused at least 10 casualties in Tripura with several injured. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has sought help from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel to begin relief work in the affected areas.

According to a Hindustan Times report, seeing the current situation, the state announced a holiday for all educational institutions on Thursday and Friday. Flood-like situations were observed in various parts of Tripura after the heavy downpour in the last 48 hours. There was severe waterlogging in these areas. This included areas like Dharmanagar, Kailashahar, Kumarghat, Kamalpur, Longtraivalley, Gandacherra, Bishalgarh, Sonamura, Teliamura, Khowai, Udaipur, Karbook, Amarpur, Sabroom, Belonia, Santirbazar, and Agartala.

Besides the flash floods, landslides were reported in many areas including national highways in Tripura. Roads and highways were blocked after trees fell due to heavy rainfall, hampering the road movement in the region as well.

Rescue teams have been working extensively to ensure the safety of the citizens amidst flash floods in Tripura. Since water levels have risen dangerously in several areas, nearly 34,000 people had to be shifted to shelters and 331 relief camps in all of the eight districts of the state.

As per the state Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), 34,100 people from 6,620 families have taken shelter in 331 relief camps spread across eight districts of Tripura. Rescue teams have been using boats to help people in various regions.

According to an NDTV report, the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) has cancelled around 10 local trains in Tripura. As per the NFR spokesman, due to the incessant rains, railway tracks were damaged in Gomati district. This has forced the railway authority to cancel these trains.
