It has been a couple of days since Sikkim has been waking up to blissful snowfall. On Wednesday, places in this state’s high altitudes received heavy snowfall. With the change in weather, temperatures have decreased noticeably as well. Snow-covered areas in the Northern, Eastern, and Western parts of this picturesque hilly state are not completely accessible to travellers at the moment.
Several roads leading to iconic tourist attractions have been closed due to adverse weather conditions. Sikkim’s Tourism and Civil Aviation Department also issued restrictions to avoid visitors facing inconveniences and stranding on snow-covered roads and areas. Routes leading to Nathula and Tsomgo Lake are currently risky for vehicular movement, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
It will need at least one day to clear ice and make the road safe for vehicles. Till these necessary issues are resolved, the Tourism Department will not issue a single permit for people heading to Nathula and Tsomgo Lake. Following proper conditions only, tourists will be allowed to hop in their cars to travel to these breathtaking destinations.

Many tourists travel to Sikkim every year desiring to witness frosty surroundings and enjoy snowfall like never before. Unfortunately, hundreds and thousands face issues due to sudden road closures. Heavy snowfall is likely to sweep this state with a plunge in temperature. Fresh snow is about to cover Sikkim, offering enchanting views to visitors. The concerned departments restrict vehicle movement during such unpredictable times.
If you plan a Sikkim trip in the next few days, stay updated about probable weather conditions.
