Umrah is a sacred religious duty that is performed by Muslims around the world. Recently, in a news report by the Arabian Business, it was revealed that Saudi Arabia has announced a dress code for women pilgrims performing Umrah. Yes, this notification was sent out on X (formerly Twitter) by the official account of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. In its post, the ministry outlined the suitable clothes for female pilgrims visiting the holy sites. It was also mentioned that while women are free to wear clothes of their choice, they have to adhere to certain guidelines. In case you’re wondering about the dress code, it includes the following guidelines –
- The clothes should be white and loose fitting.
- It should cover the entire body.
- Clothes should not have any decorative elements.

The Kingdom Expect Approx. 10 M International Visitors For Umrah
So, basically, as long as these conditions are met, women are free to wear the clothing of their choice for the pilgrimage. It’s worth mentioning that this guideline comes ahead of the fact that authorities in Saudi Arabia are expecting approximately 10 million international visitors intending to perform Umrah at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, this season. Not to mention, a series of facilities for Muslims in foreign countries have been unveiled by Saudi Arabia. For this purpose, they’ve also issued a variety of entry visas, like the personal, visit and tourist visas. Moreover, authorities have also extended the Umrah Visa from the previous 30 days to 90 days.
