The official village of Santa Claus, Rovaniemi, is tucked away in the Arctic Circle, where you can have an unforgettable Christmas. Rovaniemi is the capital of Finland’s northernmost province, Lapland. Come Christmas, the snow-blanketed Rovaniemi shines like a dream with festive lights and soothing Christmas carols playing all around. Here, you can stay in igloos, meet Santa Claus every day, take a stroll through the Elf’s Farmyard, caress Santa’s reindeer, relish Finnish desserts and do much more.

Rovaniemi has a plethora of attractions for all those who love snow and everything Christmasy. The most striking attraction in the village is the central square dotted with pretty shops and cafes. The village also houses the main post office of Santa Claus from where you can send a letter to your dear one with the unique Arctic Circle stamp on it. Rovaniemi also houses the Roosevelt Cottage, which dates back to 1950. It was the very first attraction of the picturesque village. You can also head to the Christmas Cottage of Santa Claus to meet the Christmas characters.

Visit The Elf’s Farmyard

You can take a stroll through the Elf’s Farmyard, inhabited by llamas, reindeer, rabbits, sheep and other adorable animals. You may ride Santa’s reindeer all throughout the year, thanks to a company called Santa Claus Reindeer. During wintertime, you can go on reindeer safaris without reservation. Interestingly, Santa’s hometown also has an Elf Academy that teaches you how to be an elf. Other attractions in Rovaniemi include Arctic Circle Husky Park and Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park.

When in Rovaniemi, you can also feed your adrenaline rushes with a slew of adventure activities like ice skating and snow tubing at Snowman World. The Santa Park, the cavern of Santa Claus, remains open from November until around early January.
