For this episode of Tere Gully Mein, our anchor, Tonakshi Kalra, met with the wonderful comedian, Maheep Singh, for a superb food trail in Central Delhi. During the hearty conversation, they bonded over food, West Delhi swag, standup comedy, and more. Towards the end of the episode, this Delhiite tells how he likes to eat his aloo chaat. Scroll ahead to find out how!
Maheep Singh Eats Aloo Chaat Only In This Specific Way
After enjoying mouthwatering food from several hotspots, like Cafe Lota, they drove to Pappu Chaat Bhandar in Janpath, Delhi for their final stop. This popular street-food vendor is known for whipping up delish fruit chaat and aloo chaat. They both relished chatpate Aloo Chaat and freshly made fruit chaat that was sprinkled with the eatery’s special masala before being served. It looked so appetising that Maheep Singh and Tonakshi couldn’t help but finish off their plates quickly!
As a self-confessed messy eater, the comedian carefully picked pieces of crunchy potatoes and ate them without spilling anything on himself or in the car. Meanwhile, he also spoke about how he enjoys eating aloo chaat. In Delhi, you will often find eateries selling aloo chaat with an ample serving of chole. He mentioned that there is a middle-class tendency to eat only the aloo portion of aloo chaat and reserve the chole for a serving of boiled rice or rotis.
And, this is how Maheep Singh also relishes chaat. He enjoys the crispy aloo tikki and finishes the chole serving with his next meal. Not a bad idea though! What are chaat lovers’ take on this?

According To Him, This Is The Asli Swaad Of Tikkis
Elaborating more on this, Maheep Singh commented, “The real taste of (aloo) tikki is understood when it isn’t consumed with any chutney. How will you learn about the spices used in the tikki?” He emphasised how the classic sweet or spicy chutney overpowers the simple taste of aloo tikki. He truly believes that the condiments alter the pleasure of having crispy tikki! As true foodies, we understand your point!
