Here’s How Non-Muslim Couples In Dubai Can Get A Civil Wedding License

All the non-muslim couples who are getting married in Dubai can now get a civil wedding license in just 24 hours. Now non-Muslim couples in the Emirate will be able to file for a civil marriage contract, which enables them to get married in a civil ceremony, according to a Dubai Courts announcement. As a part of their new law, these couples can get their wedding license in just 24-48 hours. 

Non-Muslim Couples Can Get A Civil Wedding License

As per the new federal decree law, which came into effect in February 2023, couples can easily apply for civil wedding licenses. The couple has to meet some conditions to get the license for the same. 

Conditions For Application

1. Both have to be non-Muslims.

2. One of the two must reside in the Emirate of Dubai.

3. They must be at least 21 years old. 

4. They must prove their single status (attested marital status certificate from the embassy of their country of origin).

5. They must be present in person or have a representative in attendance (power of attorney). 

6. Their original ID and other electronic documentation must be in PDF format.

7. They must bring their Emirates ID, original passport, and a copy of their Dubai residency permit when applying. 

8. The documents must be legally translated into Arabic by an agency recognised by the UAE Ministry of Justice and fully certified by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Where To Apply For License

Non-Muslim couples can easily apply for a wedding licence at any of the Dubai Courts Customer Service Centers. You do not have to book an appointment for this, as the service is provided on a walk-in basis.

Steps For Application

1. Attach your digital documents and submit an e-application. 

2. Pay service fees and wait for approval of the application. 

3.Once approved, sign the marriage contract. 

4. Receive your wedding license.  

If all the steps are followed properly, all conditions are met, and all documents are presented as requested, the process can be completed in a single day.

Fees

To get a civil wedding license in Dubai, you will be charged a total of Dhs482, which includes Dhs220 as service fees and Dhs262 as court fees.
