It is never a wise decision to travel to the hills and mountains during the monsoon seasons. With plenty of chances for heavy rains and cloudbursts, these locations become extremely prone to landslides, triggering major destruction, and more deadly risks. Recently, a cloudburst lashed places in Himachal Pradesh and it wreaked havoc tragically. The crucial Manali-Leh highway has been closed following the adverse weather conditions reported in the state.

Massive Downpours In Himachal Pradesh Closed Manali-Leh Highway

Taking to the X platform, Netizens shared pictures and videos of flooding and affected regions in the hilly state after several places were lashed by very heavy rainfall recently.

Cloudburst reported in Palchan near Manali triggered flash flooding. It was during the wee hours of Thursday when people witnessed its wrath. The sudden change in weather destroyed infrastructure in and near Manali. Properties were washed away with strong forces of rainwater destroying a power project in Himachal Pradesh. Several harsh damages have been reported in the affected areas.

Videos circulating on social media platforms show frightening visuals of contaminated rainwater gushing and flowing strongly. The impacts of massive rainfall led to the closure of the Manali-Leh highway. According to multiple reports, severe floods triggered major issues and blocked important road connectivity.

Teams of rescuers have been assigned to the affected areas to provide relief and save people. According to a report by Times Now News, the rescue operations are ongoing. Harsh weather conditions and their scary power destroyed two houses in Palchan. Thankfully, there is no concerning news of people losing lives to the calamities.

Yellow Alert Issued In The State

According to the X post shared by Sidharth Shukla (@sidhshuk), a yellow alert has been issued in Himachal Pradesh for rainfall. The warning is for the next four days. It has been some time since the rainy season has been disrupting the surroundings here.

A total of 15 roads were shut for any vehicular movement. 12 of these roads are in Mandi, 2 in Kinnaur, and 1 in the Kangra district. Crops, kutcha houses, and vulnerable structures have the risk of facing damages in the next few days if the weather turns horrible.

If you have plans to drive on the Manali-Leh Highway or travel to Manali or any of these risky locations in Himachal Pradesh, it is better to postpone your plans. The ongoing monsoon season can worsen the present conditions at any unexpected moment.
