Himachal Pradesh Saw Over 1 Crore Tourists In Just 6 Months, Thanks To The Favourable Weather

That Himachal Pradesh is one of the most beautiful of Indian states is no secret. Millions flock to the region for its resplendent beauty and exquisite natural environment. Recently, it was revealed that this particular beautiful state has hosted more than one crore tourists in just six months! Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about the official data regarding tourism in Himachal Pradesh.

According to an article which was recently published by The Indian Express or IE, a whopping 1,00,87,440 people visited the state in just the first six months of 2024. Out of these, 38,882 were foreign nationals. Even though the state saw a couple of landslides owing to inclement weather, tourism continued to flourish.

As per the official data, Shimla, Spiti, Lahaul, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kullu and Kinnaur were the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh. Shimla and Kullu saw the most tourist footfall, drawing a total of 4,48,392 and 4,73,737 respectively.

What is more, in the last six months, as many as 5,114 foreign nationals visited Kullu and 13,881 visited Shimla for tourism.

Favourable Weather Conditions And Other Factors

Kangra was another destination that emerged as quite popular, especially for foreigners. It saw more than 14,000 tourists between January and July of 2024. Kinnaur also saw close to 2,000 foreign tourists in the region.

As per the Chief Minister of the state, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, one of the major reasons for such a high number of tourist footfall is the weather. If reports are to go by, it is hoped that the number of tourists in the state is expected to cross two crores before the year ends.

Officials also reiterated that tourist safety is their number one priority.
