Sunday Brunch With The Amazingly Strong Hina Khan

After almost two years, Hina Khan met Kamiya Jani again and a lot has changed since their last meeting! In a heartfelt episode of Sunday Brunch, Kamiya enjoyed a delicious iftar with Hina and they spoke about her battle with cancer and how it has changed her life.

A true foodie at heart, Hina shared that despite her health and chemotherapy sessions, she ate whatever her heart desired. “Maine sab khaya! Whenever I used to go see my doctor, I used to tell him doctor please mere khaane pe rok maat lagana koi! There were days when I couldn’t even take the smell of food. Apart from that, they were great days too!”

She shares how she gets strength from the millions of people who have been supporting her ever since she talked about her cancer. Hina Khan talked about a fan from South Africa who has been a source of support for her and talked about her cancer journey with her on social media. She said that the love and support she received have been so immense that she can’t help but be positive throughout her treatment.

Hina also mentioned that she ate whatever she wanted and even did scuba diving during her treatment. She shared that it has been 8-9 months that she has been undergoing treatment and she has made it a point to talk about her cancer in good spirits. While it has surely shaken her physically, she has been talking to people like Tahira Kashyap, Mahima Chaudhary, Sonali Bendre, and Samantha, who have also uplifted her and helped her heal mentally.

Her Ramadan Rituals & Childhood Memories Of Iftar

Hina Khan also shared that she starts her sehri and breaks her fast with a special variety of dates known as Ajwa. She shared that this particular type of date is known for its unique taste and exceptional health benefits. It is grown in Saudi Arabia and is high in fibre, aids digestion, and is great for heart health.

Hina also talked about her childhood memories of iftar in Kashmir. She shares that, unlike Mumbai and Hyderabad, iftari is not so grand in Kashmir. “Thoda sa falooda banta hai, 2-4 khajoor khaa lete hai, and maybe some kheer. We are more of rice eaters. Thoda chota-mota iftari kar liya and then we have a proper dinner,” she shared.
