The month of March surely looks like one of the most perfect times of 2024 to plan a dreamy holiday. With Holi being celebrated on a Monday and Good Friday on that week’s Friday, it makes up for 2 consecutive 3-day long weekends. In fact, with an additional leave of 3 days, travellers can easily enjoy a 9-day long vacation to explore alluring destinations.

What Are The Travel Trends For Holi & Good Friday Weekends?

With Holi and Good Friday approaching fast, Indian travel enthusiasts’ appetite for holidays and weekend breaks is significantly rising too. And the biggest proof is the noticeable growth in demand and bookings for hotels and tickets to different scenic domestic destinations. Tourists are clearly making the best use of these holidays and planning to enjoy relaxing trips.

Ahead of the long Holi and Good Friday weekends, Thomas Cook and SOTC Travel revealed some fascinating data representing the increase in travellers’ appetite and their urge to book tickets, pack bags, and get set go. The report states the uptick in minications and lots of travel trends too. Several travel companies are recording a noticeable increase of almost 5 times in comparison to the Holi festival dates in the previous year.

There has been a 25 per cent rise in drivecations to destinations closer to home. From holidays of 3-4 days to 5-7 days, tourists living in bustling cities are choosing to explore nearby places. People of and around Delhi are looking to explore destinations such as Kanatal, Mukteshwar, Naukuchiatal, Kangra, and more. For Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, travellers are opting for Coorg, Puducherry, Gokarna, Kanyakumari, and more.

Adventure Enthusiasts Are TOO Excited!

Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel revealed about a 30 per cent rise in interest in adventurous and outdoor travel experiences. Some of the in-demand journeys are bike trips from Srinagar to Leh to Manali, from Manali to Spiti Valley, and from Jaipur to Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. Water lovers seem to be interested in experiencing white water rafting in Rishikesh, Leh, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand. Some more in-demand outdoor adventurous activities are:

  • Camping in Chopta, Jaisalmer, and Kullu
  • Paragliding in Gangtok and Shillong
  • Safari in Pench, Kanha, Corbett, and Ranthambore
  • Snowboarding in Auli, Pahalgam, and Sethan
  • Trekking in Sikkim, Coorg, and Mcleodganj

Indian travellers are looking to experience spiritual trips along with visiting destinations connected to Lord Krishna during the Holi weekend. The in-demand places and experiences are Holi celebrations in Huranga and Barsana, Lathmar in Nandgaon, and Ladoo Mar at Banke Bihari Temple.

Wanderlusters Are Ready To Fly Abroad

Long weekends are indeed a great time to enjoy short-haul foreign vacations. This time, visa-free access and easy visa policy are significant reasons behind globetrotters being more excited to fly internationally. In-demand destinations are Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Abu Dhabi, Azerbaijan, and Singapore.

Flight ticket prices for famous domestic destinations have decreased by 6 to 10 per cent in comparison to 2023. This drop is for Andamans, Bagdogra, Chandigarh, Goa, Jaipur, and Srinagar from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kochi. Fares have reduced by about 5 per cent for Kathmandu and Colombo.
