Special enclosures have been introduced at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to lessen flight delays brought on by bad weather and bomb threats. This Is How These Special Enclosures Will Help Passengers During Flight Delays

At Terminals 1, 2, and 3, Delhi International Airport Ltd. has set up temporary enclosures to house stranded travellers who have experienced cancellations or delays longer than three hours. These enclosures offer a specific area for quick security rescreening. Passengers are less irritated and have a smoother transition back into the Terminal Security Hold Area, where they can take advantage of all airport amenities, thanks to the enclosures at the terminal, which have cut the re-screening time from 2.5 hours to just minutes.

These special enclosures are located at the bus boarding gates in Terminal 1, the transfer areas in Terminal 2, and the designated bus gates and aerobridges in Terminal 3. Each enclosure incorporates facilities like restrooms and vending machines and can hold 55–120 passengers simultaneously.

Passengers’ complaints about lengthy security procedures and wait periods after disembarking because of bomb threats or bad weather prompted the development of the enclosures. These enclosures are designed to offer a controlled setting for more efficient operations and less disruption.

Issues Passengers Face At Delhi Airport

Approximately 500–800 flights have been delayed over the last three months, with Delhi’s severe fog causing multiple cancellations and stranding travellers, as reported by Travel and Tour World. The issue has been made worse by bomb threats, which have increased security difficulties and prolonged delays.

Travellers, particularly those connecting to overseas flights or time-sensitive destinations, have experienced severe stress as a result of these diversions. These disruptions present difficulties for Delhi Airport and airlines around the world as the demand for travel picks back up after the pandemic.
