Hurricane Helene is currently wreaking havoc in Florida right now. It has made landfall and is being categorised as a category 4 hurricane. Owing to this catastrophic storm, many flights coming and out of the US have been cancelled or delayed. Many coastal areas have also been evacuated owing to the severity of the storm. Hurricane Helene: More Than 1,000 Flights Cancelled
According to an article which was recently published by the Deccan Herald or the DH, the US has cancelled a large number of flights. As many as 1,218 flights have been cancelled out of which 201 are by Southwest Airlines. They have the highest number of flight cancellations.
American Airlines as well as Delta Air Lines also have some of the highest number of cancelled flights if reports are to go by. In addition to this, a whopping 4,146 flights have also been delayed. This is as per the data cited in the DH article by FlightAware.
Many people have shared frightening visuals of the storm on X (formerly known as Twitter). Entire houses are seen getting washed away by the floods. Roads are seen inundated with water and strong gusts of winds are bending trees.

The Impact Of This Category 4 Storm In The US’s Florida
Authorities have swung into action and are already trying their best to minimise damage. They have been urging people near the coast to evacuate their houses as the storm is being dubbed unsurvivable.
Many officials have also said that this storm is unlike anything they have experienced in the past. Schools in many areas are now shut and officials are trying their best to grapple with the wall of water.
