Internet’s favourite inventor and YouTuber Mark Rober, who has a special place in his heart for India, gorged on chatpata chaat. And where’s the best place for chaat in Mumbai? Of course, it’s Curly Tales’s very own Imlee – The Chat Gully. Over a Sunday Brunch of Imlee’s choiciest of chaat with our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani, Mark Rober touched upon his NASA experience, journey as an inventor, his life as a YouTuber and of course, all things India! Here’s all about it.
Mark Rober Loves India’s Jugaad
While gorging on a lavish feast of Chhole Bhature, Raj Kachori, Vada Pav, assorted Pani Puri (Kolkata’s Puchka being Mark Rober’s favourite)and taming the spice with copious glasses of Vrindavan Lassi, the inventor brought out the topic of “jugaad” with Kamiya Jani. The latter asked the former if he had discovered the reason cutting onions makes one cry.
Veering off topic, Mark Rober remembered slicing onions at the age of six. To protect his eyes, he grabbed a pair of swim goggles. They seemed to have done the trick, at least a bit. Recently, Rober came across videos of Indians wearing bike helmets while chopping onions. Calling it an “incredible jugaad”, he said it was great.
