Hina Khan Shared Her Experience Of Iftar In Kashmir
We met Hina Khan at Yazu, a Pan-Asian restaurant in Mumbai, for a delicious Iftar meal. From sushi to dim sums, we enjoyed it all with her. As soon as the dishes were laid on the table, she felt the Ramadan vibes and remarked that Iftars in cities like Mumbai and Hyderabad tend to be very grand, with elaborate spreads featuring a variety of dishes. However, it’s completely the opposite in Kashmir.
She revealed that Iftars in Kashmir are low-key and traditional. In her hometown, people usually make Falooda for Iftar and enjoy some dates. Sometimes, they even prepare kheer. Since people in Srinagar are big rice eaters, they tend to break their fast with a small meal and then indulge in a proper dinner. However, they always make sure to prepare one or two special dishes; maybe something like pyaaz ke pakore or a healthier option like chia seed pudding.

Later in the episode, Hina Khan shared details about her fasting during Ramadan. She mentioned that she starts her Sehri with an Ajwa date and also breaks her fast with the same dates, which are sourced from Saudi Arabia. These dates are special and highly nutritious. They are not only rich in fibre but are also known to be good for heart health. Even though they are not easily available in India, Hina makes sure to consume them during Ramadan.
