With the risks of intense weather conditions and rainfall, here are the necessary updates about the much-talked-about cyclone in Odisha.

IMD has shared crucial updates about the chances of cyclones in the North Indian Ocean in the next few days. Warning residents about the possibility of worsening weather conditions, the department alerted everyone about the risk of cyclonic activity in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea on October 23 and 24, according to a report by India Today.

As per recent updates, October 20 may witness the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the North Andaman Sea. This development can make a major shift in the weather with a low-pressure area over the central Bay of Bengal on October 22. It is likely to strengthen while moving close to Odisha. Director of IMD Bhubaneswar Manorama Mohanty stated that the state may receive downpours from October 23 to 25.

Based on the latest forecast, it is very early to state any prediction about a harsh cyclone hitting the state. IMD is monitoring the system to gather more information to update people about the change in weather conditions and provide authentic information about whether a cyclone will lash Odisha.

Though there are no certainties about a cyclone hitting Odisha soon, IMD has still advised people to stay safe and avoid a few activities. It is recommended to avoid conducting any naval operations and going for fishing and shipping in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Due to the high risks of cyclonic circulation and adverse weather conditions, IMD suggested managing travel activities, especially adventurous experiences, in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Residents living nearby must remain attentive and be ready as any emergency may occur in the next few days.
