Kerala is in the throes of intense rainfall, with the IMD issuing an orange alert for August 3 and 4. The downpours have been relentless, contributing to severe landslides in Wayanad district, which have tragically claimed over 300 lives, according to ABP News. The region is expected to see showers continue throughout the week, and the red alert issued earlier for July 30 highlighted the severity of the situation.
Both Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also under significant weather alerts. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Uttarakhand until August 8, warning of heavy rainfall that could trigger more cloudbursts and landslides. Similarly, Himachal Pradesh is bracing for heavy showers, with the potential for localised flooding and landslides.
In Delhi, the monsoon has brought a mixed bag of weather, with light to moderate showers expected along with thunderstorms. While the rains are likely to offer some respite from the heat, they could also cause localised disruptions.

The central Indian states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra are poised to receive extremely heavy rainfall over the next couple of days. The IMD has issued orange alerts for these regions, suggesting that residents prepare for potential flooding and waterlogging.
In Gujarat, the IMD has predicted significant rainfall over the next few days, with the state under an orange alert. Parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are also under orange alerts, signalling very heavy rainfall, as per the ABP News reports. These states may experience substantial downpours that could impact infrastructure and agriculture.
Jharkhand’s northwest region is facing a red alert today, indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. This is expected to be accompanied by intense downpours, which could lead to flash floods and other weather-related challenges. The IMD has also issued an orange alert for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar until August 6.
The northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are under orange alerts as well. The region is expected to experience heavy rainfall, contributing to the ongoing monsoon conditions.
