Here’s About The All-New Solar Dome Museum

Taking to the X platform, Firhad Hakim, Mayor of Kolkata, shared pictures of this one-of-a-kind renewable energy museum.

Also known as the first renewable energy museum in India, Firhad Hakim inaugurated it on November 5, 2024. To visit the place, head to Gate 6 of the famous Eco Park and you will find the dome-shaped museum beside it. Spread over a humongous space of 2.89 acres, the museum is 27 metre tall and has a diameter of 45 metre.

According to a report by Telegraph India, 1,986 solar panels have been installed in this new solar dome museum in New Town. These panels can light up the infrastructure’s internal lighting by producing about 180KW of electricity. The three-storeyed museum has opened its doors already and is welcoming visitors to witness the magical ambience and a unique world for the first time in the City of Joy.

This museum is a collaborative project by the Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation and the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited. Long back in February 2017, its foundation was laid. The entire construction faced an unfortunate delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
