Dinner emerged as the primary mealtime with 215 million orders, exceeding lunch orders by 29 per cent. Breakfast traditions also remained strong. Southern favourites dominated the morning palette, with 8.5 million dosas and 7.8 million idlis ordered.
Bengaluru particularly fancied its masala dosas, whilst Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata stayed loyal to their regional breakfast staples of chole, aloo paratha and kachoris, respectively. In the snacking arena, the chicken roll claimed supremacy with 2.48 million orders, followed by chicken momos and potato chips.
The nocturnal dining scene witnessed interesting patterns, with chicken burgers becoming the midnight favourite, though one Delhi resident made headlines by ordering 250 onion pizzas in a single order!
Swiggy’s Bolt Shines Bright In The Delivery Scene!
Swiggy’s quick-delivery service, Bolt, set impressive records with delivery times as swift as three minutes. Bengaluru demonstrated particular enthusiasm for this service, reaching a peak of 19,177 Bolt orders on 20th October.
The service proved especially popular for breakfast deliveries in metropolitan areas, constituting 20 to 25 per cent of total orders. The introduction of an ‘Incognito Mode’ revealed intriguing ordering patterns, with 350,000 secret orders placed in just three months.
Bengaluru led this trend with 54,064 discrete orders, predominantly featuring chicken biryani. The dedication of delivery partners was noteworthy, covering 1.96 billion kilometres collectively. This is equivalent to 533,000 trips from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Outstanding individual achievements included Mumbai’s Kapil Kumar Pandey. He completed 10,703 deliveries, and Coimbatore’s Kaleeswari M led female partners with 6,658 deliveries.
