Over Chhattisgarhi delicacies like Chausela, Mahua ke Laddoo, Thekua and more, the politician spoke about his life, leadership and more. He also revealed why the state is known as the ‘Rice Bowl of India’.

Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Enjoys Sunday Brunch With Kamiya Jani

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo invited Kamiya Jani to his home, palatial yet filled with warmth, in Nava Raipur. During the conversation, he mentioned how the state was moving towards peace after coping with Naxalism. Moreover, he talked about his deeply inspiring journey where he hailed from humble beginnings yet gradually worked his way upwards to political leadership.

During the Sunday Brunch, Kamiya relished a variety of Chhattisgarhi delicacies, many made with rice. Her favourite was Chila, a rice pancake. This got our Editor-in-Chief asking the CM why the state is called ‘Rice Bowl of India’. To this, CM Vishnu Deo revealed that 80% of people in the state depend on farming for their livelihood. And rice is one of the most popular grains grown here.

The State Is Called ‘Rice Bowl Of India’

Moreover, over 1000 varieties of rice are grown in the state, he said. The rice is fragrant and has thin grains. In fact, when the rice cooks on the stove, the fragrance is so beautiful that it instantly captivates passers-by. As we enjoyed our brunch, we asked him what his favourite dish is. The CM revealed that his favourite dish is also Rice Chila, which he used to enjoy for breakfast in his childhood. Nowadays, his diet includes more wheat-based dishes.
