The team of Curly Tales visited his breathtaking 50-acre private estate, Dudhala Vann, in Surat to know more about his journey, resilience, values, and vision. Here’s what went down in this episode.
Meet Savji Dholakia, The Diamond King Of India
Savji Dholakia is the boss from Surat who is known for gifting homes, jewellery, and cars to his employees. Not just that, he even takes their parents and in-laws on vacations every year. Can you believe that? For this episode of Stories From Bharat, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani met the Diamond King of India at his 50-acre private estate, Dudhala Vann, in Surat.
When Kamiya met him, she even jokingly showed Savji Dholakia her CV and told him about her experience and hard work. And honestly, who wouldn’t? This man is known for treating his employees like family and gifting them jewellery and cars. After this light moment, Kamiya complimented his beautiful home, to which he replied, “Yeh ghar nahi hai, yeh mandir hai,” and then took her to meet his parents.
Savji Dholakia opened up about his journey and revealed that he had come to Surat from his village with just ₹20 in his pocket, around 50 years ago. He said his hard work was behind the success of Hare Krishna Exports, one of the world’s leading diamond companies.

A Traditional Kathiyawadi Brunch Featuring Aloe Vera Mithai
During the conversation, he revealed that many employees initially left his company for better salaries at bigger companies. After this started happening frequently, he decided not just to pay good salaries but also to reward top employees with cars. Savji Dholakia added that the more he gives to his employees, the more profit his company earns. He believes happy employees work better and help the company grow.
Moreover, he gave full credit to his employees for the success of the company. He also said that he takes their parents on vacations and treats them like family. After this conversation, Kamiya Jani sat down for a hearty Kathiyawadi brunch with Savji Dholakia and his family. The meal included salad, khaman, papdi ki sabzi, dal rice, handvo, and plenty of sweets like laddoo and even aloe vera ki mithai. Over lunch, Kamiya Jani also discussed Savji Dholakia’s friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The team of Curly Tales later interacted with his employees and talked about diamonds and his business journey. The episode ended with Savji Dholakia sharing some honest CEO confessions.
