Over a delicious spread of their favourite dishes, Musafir Cafe stars Vikrant Massey, Mahima Makwana and Vedika Pinto joined Kamiya Jani for a fun and candid Sunday Brunch, where the conversation revolved around food, friendships, travel, relationships and their journeys so far. And, between bites, Vikrant also opened up about his much-talked-about sabbatical and what life has been like since.

Vikrant Massey On His Much-Talked About Sabbatical

Back in December 2024, Vikrant Massey announced on social media that he was taking a temporary break from acting. While the announcement left many fans wondering if he was calling it quits for good, the actor later clarified that he was simply taking a much-needed break and had no plans to permanently retire from acting.

During Sunday Brunch, Kamiya Jani asked Vikrant Massey how life had been since his break and what led him to take a step back from acting. The actor revealed, “I was working back to back. I had a boy, I wanted to go back home and spend time with my parents and my family. Burnout ho gaya that actually–creative, physical, mental, emotional, har tarike ka burnout ho gaya tha. I just wanted to go back.”

Building ‘Homemade Stories’

During his break from acting, Vikrant Massey also turned his attention to another passion project—his production house, Homemade Stories. He revealed that the idea took shape with his friend and mentor Vijay Subramaniam, who helped him put together a plan to launch the venture.

The name, Homemade Stories, reflects exactly what Vikrant wants to create—simple, relatable stories that feel familiar and close to home. He also feels that this kind of storytelling is not explored enough, especially on the web.

Interestingly, Musafir Cafe gave him a chance to return to this space after a long time. Vikrant said the story, team and his co-stars made him want to come on board. While he was keen to act in the project, he also wanted to co-produce it, an idea that Netflix India was open to.
