Our Sunday Brunch episode with Karan Aujla was all about getting a deep dive into his life; not just his musical journey, but also his childhood in Punjab, his relationship with his parents and his wife, and of course, his love for food. While our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, got him to try some Mumbai special street foods for the very first time, she also kept it fun with a few games.

Karan Aujla’s Alternative Career Would Be…

After getting to know that he prefers Indian food in India over Indian food in Canada, it was time to play a fun game. We had asked AI to generate different versions of Karan Aujla, and he had to sing a song that fit the mood of these images. After seeing the first prompt, which featured Karan Aujla trapped in the Mumbai monsoon, he came up with the song’s hook line, “Ki Karaan?” which is Punjabi for “What do I do?”

Next up, we had Karan Aujla pictured as someone with a desk job in an office. The image totally surprised Karan Aujla, and he immediately said that he looks like an accountant. Never in his life had he envisioned himself working under someone or working 9-5 in a company. Curious, we asked him what his alternate career would be if he weren’t a singer and lyricist. And surprise, surprise! If not a musician, he would have become a truck driver in Canada. He would be driving his truck all day long, all the while singing.

He also made an exciting revelation about one job he had. When he was in Canada writing lyrics for other musicians, he held a government job that required him to work at the docks. During those two to three months, he became even more aware that he is not suited for a job and that he should take his music even more seriously.

He Finally Tried Misal Pav

Finally, it was time to indulge in the Sunday brunch, which featured irresistible dishes like vada pav, misal pav, bhel puri, and dahi bhalla, adding a touch of Punjab to the spread. As soon as the misal pav was laid on the table, Karan Aujla recalled a story about Vicky Kaushal. When they were shooting for their iconic song “Tauba Tauba” together, he asked Vicky Kaushal for some recommendations in Mumbai for food, and he wholeheartedly recommended misal pav. At that point, unfortunately, he couldn’t. But on this episode, it was finally his chance to dig into this popular delicacy.

When the song was first released, we all instantly became fans of Vicky Kaushal’s dance moves. But can Karan Aujla also do the ‘Tauba Tauba’ hook step? To know all about it, watch the full episode on the Curly Tales YouTube channel.
