“It’s Important To Start Using Weights As You Get Older,” Jacqueline Fernandez On Importance Of Weight Training

For an exciting episode of Power Hour with Mashable India, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani joined Jacqueline Fernandez for a yoga session. The duo met at Mahati Wellness in Bandra, Mumbai, for a refreshing early-morning workout session. Between the asanas, the actress opened up about her conscious decision to include more weight training in her daily exercise routine, and she even highlighted why she feels it is important.

Jacqueline Fernandez On The Benefits Of Weight Training

After a few Om chants and a quick warm-up, Kamiya and Jacqueline began their yoga session with Surya Namaskar. Following a few rounds, the actress suggested adding weights to their asanas, prompting Kamiya to ask if incorporating weights into a yoga session was a normal practice.

“Honestly, I’m making a conscious effort to do more weights, especially this year as I turn 40. They are actually anti-ageing, by the way. Now, I know a lot of people are going to laugh at me for saying that, but it’s very important to start, especially when you’re getting older. This is something you really need,” Jacqueline Fernandez explained the need for weight training.

She Opens Up About Her Morning Routine

As they sat down to begin their warm-up, Kamiya asked Jacqueline Fernandez about her morning routine. “I really love doing yoga in the mornings. Once I have completed my oral hygiene, taken a shower, and done with my prayers and meditation, I love to do yoga. For me, it’s the best way to start my day,” she shared.

The actress even revealed her oral hygiene routine, which includes more than just brushing her teeth. She revealed, “There is oil pulling, I use coconut oil, cloves and different kinds of herbs, and I do about five minutes of this. It’s a great way to detoxify your mouth. It also cleanses and strengthens your mouth area, which is also related to your gut.
