A Star-Studded Sunday Brunch With Shatrughan Sinha & Paresh Rawal
This Sunday Brunch episode was no less than a star-studded show. Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, stepped into the Mumbai home of Shatrughan Sinha, where she met not only him but also actor Paresh Rawal. The brunch began with the most important question directed to Shatrughan Sinha: Why is his home named Ramayan? He answered that since he and his three brothers are named Ram, Lakhan, Bharat and Shatrughan, the house was named accordingly. Even his sons are named Luv and Kush.
After this, the conversation steered towards their lives, special anecdotes, and fond memories. One moment that stayed with us was when Shatrughan Sinha spoke about the advice he got from L.K. Advani, an Indian politician, during a time when the actor was struggling.
He shared that L.K. Advani had given him advice from a book written by Mahatma Gandhi, saying, “Kisi bhi aandolan ko safalta paane ke liye chaar daur se guzarna hee padhega” (To achieve success in any movement, one has to go through four stages). The four stages are uphaas (mockery), upeksha (indifference), tiraskar (insult), and daman(oppression). L.K. Advani told him that once you pass through all these stages with determination, you gain respect and success. Honestly, this advice applies to life as a whole and to every aspect of it.

Sundays, Theatre, And Politics
While enjoying chai and snacks, we asked both of them how they usually spend their Sundays. Paresh Rawal said he prefers spending time with friends and enjoys watching theatre plays. Shatrughan Sinha joined in, praising the actor’s theatre skills. The conversation then moved towards insecurities. Paresh Rawal candidly admitted that at times he feels a bit insecure when another actor gives a brilliant shot.
Since Shatrughan Sinha is also active in politics, we asked Paresh Rawal why he chose to step away from politics after a short stint. To this, he quickly replied, “Main politics kar nahi sakta” (I can’t do politics), making it clear that politics was not meant for him. Both of them also shared other interesting details on this episode of Sunday Brunch, from Shatrughan Sinha’s hilarious childhood memory to Paresh Rawal’s story of his first paycheck and so much more.
