For an exciting Power Hour episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, joined Jacqueline Fernandez for a morning yoga session. The duo met at Mahati Wellness in Bandra, and between the asanas, the actress opened up about her conscious decision to include more weight training in her daily exercise routine, working out with actress Disha Patani, and more. Here’s how it went down.

Jacqueline Fernandez Talks About Working Out With Disha Patani

Given Jacqueline Fernandez’s well-known dedication to health and fitness, a curious Kamiya asked her whether the common belief that women become overly muscular from lifting weights is actually true. On this, she replied, “I have worked out with Disha (Patani), and she does very heavy weights. She’s very fit and strong, but you don’t think that when you see her. She still maintains curves, she looks very feminine, so yes, I do feel it’s a misconception. If you’re training to look like that, you can. But if you’re balancing it, I think you can maintain your body like you want.”

Explains Benefits Of Weight Training

While doing yoga, Jacqueline Fernandez suggested adding weights to their asanas, prompting Kamiya to ask if incorporating weights into a yoga session was a normal practice. “Honestly, I’m making a conscious effort to do more weights, especially this year as I turn 40. They are actually anti-ageing, by the way. Now, I know a lot of people are going to laugh at me for saying that, but it’s very important to start, especially when you’re getting older. This is something you really need,” she explained the need for weight training.

So, what does Jacqueline’s morning routine look like? “I really love doing yoga in the mornings. Once I have completed my oral hygiene, taken a shower, and done with my prayers and meditation, I love to do yoga. For me, it’s the best way to start my day,” she shared.
