This Sunday, Curly Tales had the chance to step into the iconic Konidela home in Hyderabad. Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, got to enjoy an elaborate and lavish Andhra brunch with entrepreneur and philanthropist Upasana Konidela. While she is a force to be reckoned with in the business world, she keeps her personal life away from the spotlight. This time, however, she opened up like never before and here’s how it went down.
Delicious Sunday Brunch With Upasana Konidela
The Konidela home feels like a resort in the heart of Hyderabad! Lush manicured gardens lead to a palatial home where she lives with her family. Inside, you will see modern interiors blending beautifully with regional heritage, with antique artefacts and plush upholstery. Upasana Kamineni Konidela, the Vice Chairperson CSR – Apollo Hospitals and founder of UR Life and Athamma’s Kitchen, welcomed Curly Tales to her beautiful home for a delicious Sunday Brunch.
She welcomed her daughter two years ago, and while motherhood keeps her busy, so does her work. She’s an entrepreneur and philanthropist, juggling so many projects at once, it makes you wonder—what keeps Upasana Konidela going? “I want every day of my life to be special. I work in a hospital, I see how precious each day is and understand the value of life. You know, we take breathing for granted, so many people have that as a luxury. We take eating for granted, so many people have to follow a restricted diet. I was a chubby kid, I was an emotional eater, seeing things I made that switch in my head, it’s time for me to take control of my body, not the other way around,” she candidly shared.
As a foodie at heart, we asked her which places in Hyderabad she recommends for good food, and she suggested Charminar and Toli Chowki. She does confess that Andhar’s spice level is a bit too much for her, and between her and Ram Charan, he has better spice tolerance.

A True Foodie At Heart!
Before we sat down for our brunch, Upasana Konidela shared a cute anecdote from her dating time with Ram Charan. “I said if you really love me, I need you to take me to Famous Ice Cream, and the shop is in the middle of a market, and he was a star by then, and anybody would recognise him. So, he said: Okay! We went there, we ordered ice cream on the date, and we had people banging on our doors after that, which was a true test of his love, and he passed with flying colours,” she shared.
During the eight-course Sunday Brunch, Kamiya Jani enjoyed the famous Chiranjeevi Dosa, also known as Thella Dosa. Upasana Konidela shared that one might find versions of this dish outside, but the actual recipe is a family secret!
