In what seems to be one of the most memorable and cherished Sunday Brunch episodes, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, was invited for a lavish spread by Apollo Hospitals CSR Group’s Vice Chairperson and actor Ram Charan’s wife, Upasana Konidela. The gracious and hospitable host treated Kamiya to an 8-course meal featuring family heirloom recipes, and even talked all things food, fun, entrepreneurship and films with us. Moreover, she even spilt the beans on the biggest foodie in the Konidela household.

Upasana Konidela Reveals Men In Her Household Are The Biggest Foodies

While lounging at the palatial Hyderabad Konidela residence, Kamiya Jani asked Upasana Konidela about the biggest foodie in the household. “I would say the men in the house, for sure,” she remarked with poise. That surely entails actors Ram Charan and his father, legendary actor Chiranjeevi. “And the women are masterchefs, except me,” adds the entrepreneur. She credits her mother-in-law, Athamma and her Nainamma (Ram Charan’s grandmother) to be super chefs. “And so is my mom’s mom and my dad’s mom,” she adds.

Calls Women In Her Home, “Rockstar Chefs”

“The women in my house have been rockstar chefs,” she remarks with deep admiration. Upasana joked that with this scenario in place, she doesn’t blame herself for being overweight. While she doesn’t have the pressure to be a good chef, she does take it upon herself to preserve those family recipes. Without being in the kitchen, one can preserve recipes by collating them, writing books, creating videos and more, she adds.

Her newest venture, Athamma’s Kitchen, is a ready-to-eat food brand helmed by actor Chiranjeevi’s wife, Surekha Konidela, who has passed on her heritage home-cooked meals from the Konidela household to every kitchen in India. The recipes have been preserved with care, and the nostalgic home-cooked food brings the essence of Ram Charan’s home to yours. Nostalgic recipes rife with flavours from Telangana like Avakaya Pachadi, Pongal, Pulihora, Rasam can be prepared in minutes to satisfy your craving.
