Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, was invited to the Ganpati celebration at Shankar Mahadevan’s Vashi home, and it was truly amazing. The Mahadevan family sat down with her for Sadhya and opened up about how they celebrate Ganeshotsav in the family. We also played a game of ‘Who’s Most Likely To’ while relishing the meal, and here’s how it went down.
‘Who’s Most Likely To’ Ft. The Mahadevan Family
Of course, we had to ask who the biggest foodie in the Mahadevan family is, and while everyone admitted their love for food, they unanimously crowned Shankar Mahadevan as the ultimate foodie! We then started a quick game of ‘Who’s Most Likely To’and the family revealed that between the four of them, Sangeeta Mahadevan is likely to eat most modaks!
As for the Ganpati celebration, the entire family comes together to decorate the house and take up responsibilities. Going forward, we asked who sang the loudest during aarti, and everyone pointed at Shivam Mahadevan. Interestingly, Shankar Mahadevan confessed that he is most likely to forget the aarti mid-way and even added that he often forgets his own lyrics on the stage.
“Audience ko kabhi pata nahi chalta, main khud ka hi kuch bhi daal deta hun. When you know the audience is with you, they are loving you, then they don’t mind you forgetting the lyrics,” Shankar Mahadevan explained.

And who insists on taking most photos with Bappa? Again, Shivam was crowned the ‘social media type’ and the one who has the most photos with Bappa. Who’s the most punctual among the four of them? They unanimously said Shankar Mahadevan was the most punctual, while Siddharth was the one who’s likely to be late at all pujas.
During visarjan, both brothers said they are the most emotional as they get so attached to Bappa during the 10 days that they can’t help but feel a lingering sadness during his departure. When we asked Shankar Mahadevan who the best singer in the family was, he simply pointed at Shivam.
