As Delhi continues to reel under the monsoon showers, a rain alert has been issued for the city. Yes, with monsoon rains continuing to lash northern India, cities have been affected by floods and traffic. And the Indian Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for Delhi. Yamuna River Nears Danger Mark
With rains causing severe traffic snarls and waterlogging in Delhi NCR, rain continued to persist on Saturday. As it happens, the maximum temperature dropped to 26.4°C, which made it the coldest August day in 14 years. In a report by the Economic Times, it was revealed that the Yamuna River is also flowing close to the danger mark. This comes after there was heavy discharge from the Hathnikund Bairaj. This comes at a time when the city has recently received ample rainfall. It rained quite heavily on Saturday, which resulted in traffic snarls, as people stepped out to celebrate Rakshabandan.
IMD Issues Rain Alert
Not just Delhi, but even in UP, rains have caused a swell in the rivers. Yes, the Ganga and Saryu rivers have also seen a rise. There have been reports of alarming water levels, which have resulted in evacuations. This is especially true for low-lying areas. Not just in UP, but even in Bihar, the Ganga and Boodhi Gandak rivers are overflowing. As a result, villages in Khagaria have submerged, and 17 panchayats have been affected.

Residents In Flood-Prone Area To Remain Cautious
It is expected that monsoon rains will continue to wreak havoc. Hence, the IMD has asked residents in flood-prone areas and low-lying areas to be cautious. In fact, authorities are also monitoring the situation closely. The weather in Delhi is being continuously monitored as the Yamuna river level rises.
