Ganeshotsav 2025: Mumbai Amps Up Security With 17,000 Cops, AI-Driven Surveillance & Drone Monitoring

As Mumbai prepares to welcome Bappa on Ganesh Chaturthi, the city police have amped up security with many technological upgrades and over 17,000 cops on duty.

Bappa is returning to Mumbai on August 27, and to ensure safety, the Mumbai Police is leaving no stone unturned. Just like every year, the city police have heightened security across the city and this time, they have added major technological upgrades. Scroll on to know all the details.

Mumbai Police Tightens Security For Ganeshotsav 2025

As Mumbai gears up for Ganeshotsav, the city police have made security their top priority. Over 17,000 police personnel, along with AI-driven surveillance and drone monitoring, have been deployed across key locations to manage crowds and maintain security during the 10-day festival.

While talking to Free Press Journal, Joint Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary has confirmed that over 17,000 police personnel will be on duty “from Ganesh idol installation until immersion to ensure security across the city.” Around 14,430 constables, 2,637 police officers, 51 ACPs, and 36 DCPs will be on duty across the city.

Furthermore, 11,000 CCTV cameras have been installed across Mumbai, drones will be deployed to monitor large gatherings, and AI technology will be put in place to monitor suspicious individuals during the festivities. Quick response teams will be on standby, and special branch officers will be placed at strategic points as well.

Additional Security To Be Present During Festivities

To ensure a safe and incident-free Ganeshotsav, apart from the Mumbai Police, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) platoons 12 Company, Rapid Action Force, riot control teams, Delta combat units, and Home Guards will also be present in the city. Furthermore, to help with security, thousands of volunteers from social organisations will help the forces as well.

The Mumbai Police has also urged people in the city to cooperate with authorities. They have highlighted how crowd management can be more easily done in crowded locations with the support of the residents. People have been instructed to immediately report any unattended items or suspicious objects during the festivities.
