Gujarat-Bound JanSadharan Train Derails Near Kanpur; No Serious Injuries Reported

On Friday, August 1, a Gujarat-bound JanSadharan Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh. It happened between Kanpur and Tundla. This incident occurred in the afternoon, and two coaches of the Sabarmati-bound train from Muzaffarpur derailed. However, according to a report by Hindustan Times, nobody was seriously injured.

Muzaffarpur-Sabarmati Train Derails

The Muzaffarpur-Sabarmati train derailed between Kanpur and Tundla on Friday afternoon. However, no serious injuries were reported as the train was moving at a speed below 15 km/h. In the report by the English daily, the two general coaches, which were the sixth and seventh from the engine, had derailed. This happened in the loop line of Bhaupur Yard. As it happens, the incident took place at 4:20 PM and the train, which was travelling at a low speed at the time, was able to avert a major tragedy.

No Serious Injury Reported

The Tundla control room was immediately informed by the train guard, after which an accident relief medical van and crane rushed to the spot. Although no fatalities and no serious injuries were reported, there were passengers who sustained minor injuries. As a result, they were given first aid at the scene. Eyewitnesses told officers that when the coach derailed, it created panic. Fellow travellers assisted women, children, and the elderly to get out of the affected coaches.

Trains Were Affected On The Route

As this incident occurred on the Delhi-Howrah route, major disruption to train services was caused. Six trains were diverted as the UP line was blocked. These included:

  • New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express
  • Anand Vihar-Ayodhya Cantt Vande Bharat Express
  • Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express

In fact, restoration work had also been initiated, and railway officers from Kanpur had reached the site. Once the track was cleared, officials mentioned that normal train movement would resume.
