Monsoon rains can be quite unforgiving in the hilly regions. And something similar is happening in Himachal Pradesh. As the state reels under the fury of the monsoons, several roads, power feeders, and water schemes have been hit. Himachal Pradesh Reels Under Monsoon Rains
As revealed in a report by ANI, interior roads in several districts like those of Mandi, Kullu, Chamba, and Una continue to remain inaccessible. This inaccessibility of routes makes rescue and repair efforts even more challenging for the authorities. In fact, the State Disaster Management Authority has also confirmed that 173 people had died. This has happened due to rain-related incidents and road accidents. In fact, major national highways like NH-21, NH-03, NH-305, and NH-505 have also been left impossible.
Several Roads Were Blocked
As per the report, all the temporary restoration work is being attempted, but it is going to take time to normalise as the weather continues to pose a massive challenge for the people. In fact, it also mentioned how 383 roads continue to remain blocked. Moreover, water supply schemes are also affected due to rain-triggered drain damage to the infrastructure. With this SDMA continuing to monitor the situation, there are coordinated efforts being undertaken to ensure there is relief and restoration.

In fact, a chilling video has also surfaced online where Cofferdam, which is part of the Malana-I Hydropower Project in Himachal Pradesh, collapsed. This happened due to continuous rainfall, which led to a surge in water, which swept away the heavy machinery and vehicles that was situated near the dam site. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
