UAE-based Indian expats often face many problems when updating their Aadhaar card details. But not anymore! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has rolled out a major digital update for Aadhaar for NRIs in the UAE. This will allow them to update key Aadhaar information—name, address, date of birth, and mobile number, completely online.
Big Aadhaar Update For Indian Expats In UAE From November 1

For millions of Indians abroad, Aadhaar is more than just an ID. According to a report by Gulf News, it’s the key to accessing countless government and financial services in India, from filing taxes to verifying a bank account. Until now, any correction or update meant physically visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra in India. But the new update system has gone fully digital, breaking down the hassle into a quick online process.
Digital updates are free until June 14, 2026, for NRIs in the UAE.
What’s New In The system?
The UIDAI has expanded the list of acceptable documents to make things smoother. Electricity or water bills are confirmed to be used as valid proof of address. Also, the updated system cross-checks information based on official databases like PAN, passport, and ration card records, turning verification into a faster and more accurate process.
Updating your Aadhaar online is now as easy as logging in to the official portal. Just enter your Aadhaar number, receive an OTP, choose what to change, and upload the required document (if needed). You can even track your update status live.
But There’s A Catch For This Aadhaar Update!
To use the online service, your Aadhaar-linked mobile number is crucial. Why? Because all authentication happens via OTP. If it isn’t linked yet, you’ll need to visit an enrolment centre once to activate it.
Updated fees and timelines
From November 1, 2025, the revised charges are:
- ₹75 for updating name, address, or mobile number
- ₹125 for biometric updates (free for kids aged 5–7 and 15–17)
- Free online document updates until June 14, 2026, after which it’ll cost ₹75 at centres
- ₹100 for Aadhaar reprints
PAN Linking Deadline Reminder
All PAN cardholders must link their Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. If not done by the mentioned date, it would lead to deactivation from January 1, 2026. New PAN applicants will also have to verify via Aadhaar-based authentication.
