Imagine three days where the city slows down, the noise fades, the spotlight rises, and all that remains is the magic of pure, powerful storytelling. That is exactly what’s about to unfold from 5th to 7th December at the American Express® Presents Bengaluru Theatre Festival, coming back for Season 2.
Legends Unite For Bengaluru Theatre Festival This December
Last year, the festival left the city buzzing with packed shows, long applause, and people who couldn’t stop talking about the stories they had witnessed. This year, the excitement is even bigger. The energy is brighter. And the lineup is the kind that makes every theatre lover grin from ear to ear.
So Bengaluru, your early December plan is officially sorted! You will get to watch legendary artists like Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Lillete Dubey, Pankaj Kapur, Vinay Pathak, and Kumud Mishra performing live on stage. These acts will make you feel things you didn’t even know you could feel.
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to step into the mind of a genius, Einstein, starring Naseeruddin Shah, lets you do exactly that. Einstein spent his life discovering the wonders of the universe. But he also lived with the horror that his theories contributed to the atomic bomb. And Naseeruddin Shah brings all of that alive on stage with a depth only he can deliver.
Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai, starring Anupam Kher, is not just a play. It’s a man opening up his heart in front of an entire audience. He shares moments that broke him, moments that shaped him, and moments that defined him. And somewhere in his story, you find parts of your own.

A Festival With Legends, Stories, And Emotions
Then comes Vodka & No Tonic, based on Shobhaa De’s stories. Starring Lillet Dubey, this one is for everyone who lived through the emotional rollercoaster of lockdown. Told from both men’s and women’s perspectives, this play feels real, relatable, and deeply moving.
Now, Nothing Like Lear, starring Vinay Pathak, is something beautifully unexpected. A clown walks onto the stage, but he’s not funny today. He’s heartbroken, lonely, and surprisingly human. Vinay Pathak turns this simple idea into a hilarious yet emotional performance inspired by Shakespeare’s King Lear. It’s unique and incredibly entertaining.
We all know the smoking area of an office building, where people breathe out their stress, vent about work, gossip about colleagues, and laugh about things they probably shouldn’t laugh about. Dhumrapaan, starring Kumud Mishra & Shubhrajyoti Barat, is exactly that, recreated on stage.
Bengaluru Theatre Festival isn’t just about watching a play. It’s about feeling something and celebrating the beauty of live performance. It’s three days that remind us of why theatre will always have its own special magic. From 5th to 7th December, everything you love about theatre is coming alive again. Book your tickets, plan your evenings, and get ready for three unforgettable days.
