Janmashtami 2026: ISKCON Dwarka In Delhi To Prepare 1,108 Kg Cake & 5,600 Bhog Items

Preparations for Shri Krishna Janmashtami 2026 have now begun at the ISKCON Dwarka Temple in Delhi. On September 4, devotees will receive prasad from a bhog of 5,600 preparations, cake, and five new sweets made with gulkand. This is considered one of the largest bhog offerings in the temple’s calendar. 

ISKCON Dwarka Delhi To Prepare 5,600 Bhog Preparations For Janmashtami

ISKCON Dwarka Temple in Delhi celebrates Janmashtami with a very big and beautiful festival. It is considered one of the most famous places in the city to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna. The whole temple is decorated with lots of fresh flowers and colourful lights. Devotees sing devotional songs and celebrate the festival together. For this year, the temple is all set to prepare a grand feast for Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

This year’s celebration on September 4 will bring together more than 5,600 preparations, dry and wet offerings for Lord Krishna. The 56 bhog will sit within this large spread. Five gulkand delicacies are also new to the offering this year, including Gulkand Shrikhand, Gulkand Ladoo, Gulkand Barfi, Gulkand Gujiya and Gulkand Dry Fruit Laddoo. They have been created especially for the festival and will be offered to Lord Krishna before reaching the prasad counters.

1,108 Kg Cake & Special Sweets For The Festival

This special bhog will be offered from early morning on September 4 through to midnight, with different preparations placed before Lord Krishna at different hours of the day. Not just that, but ISKCON Temple in Delhi is also preparing 1,108 kg of cake! It will be baked throughout the day in small batches so that it stays fresh. There will be dry cakes, muffins and cream cakes, too, which will be offered at the altar and then given out to people. A special 200 kg cake will be cut at midnight, too.

The feast also includes Til Barfi, Mysore Pak, Besan Barfi, Kalakand, Malpua with khoya and pista, Ghewar, Rabri and more. On the savoury side, there will be Aloo Samosa, Dal Samosa, Dry Fruit Samosa, Kachori filled with dal, Khaja and a range of namkeens.

The temple is expecting between seven lakh and 10 lakh devotees on the day of Janmashtami 2026. The prasad counters have been planned around that number. Fresh fruit and cooling drinks such as chach, shikanji and thandai will be served to devotees waiting for darshan.

This offering is inspired by the tradition of Braj, where Janmashtami is remembered for the food prepared for Lord Krishna by Radharani and her sakhis.
