Versova, in Mumbai, is one of my favourite spots to hang out because it has a great vibe. Firstly, when I heard that Andheri West had a new Italian table, I was not only excited but also pleased, because who doesn’t like a delicious, fulfilling pizza? That’s when I visited the new Lygon St. in Versova, and here’s how it went.

Lygon St. Brings The Taste Of Italy To Mumbai

This wine-led Italian food bar is inspired by Melbourne’s iconic Lygon St., which is a real street known globally for its long-standing Italian cafes, relaxed wine bars and everyday dining. Chef and founder Sneha Upadhya personally interprets this place, drawing from her years of living and cooking in Melbourne. Entering the place, I instantly felt the warmth and cosiness of the cafe. The place isn’t small; it’s just perfect for a relaxed, intimate time. It is an ideal space for dinners, sunset pours, and unplanned evenings that stretch longer than expected, just like ours did, because we indeed were the last ones to leave, especially on a Friday night.

Pasta, Pizza & More

To begin our meal, we were presented with a bread basket featuring three distinct dips, which proved to be an excellent introduction. While we were enjoying our breads, we were served with some refreshing mocktails. The menu was limited, so we made the most of it. After the bread basket, we swiftly moved on to the main course and ordered a dish I had been eagerly anticipating from the beginning. We tried one of their best sellers, Pappardelle ai Funghi al Tartufo, which was made in mushroom sauce and truffle oil. Honestly, I don’t like mushrooms much, but I was quite surprised by this one. The creamy texture and delicious taste made me finish the whole bowl in no time. 10 minutes max.

Thereafter, we had our Al Pesto Vegetariana pizza, which was finely decorated with burrata, basil pesto, and vegetables. I liked the pizza quite well, but for me, the clear choice would be their pasta. With pizza and pasta, we were so full that we quickly jumped to dessert and ordered the chocolate Gelato, because after a heavy meal, a chocolate gelato was a bonus. Although it was too sweet for my taste, it was still a good option for those with a strong sweet tooth.

The Final Verdict

All in all, for people who love to try authentic Italian cuisine, this place is a thumbs up. They are an array of food varieties and wines, which we missed. The rest of the place is quite cosy and perfect for an intimate dining setting.
