CT Review: Mumbai’s Dessert Therapy Kitchen Makes Indulgence Feel Like Self-Care With Cheesecakes & More!

Some cafés are easy to forget the moment you leave. Dessert Therapy Kitchen in Mumbai’s Oshiwara somehow does the exact opposite. What starts as “let’s quickly grab dessert” slowly turns into a full table of food, extra drinks you didn’t plan to order and one person saying, “Okay fine, let’s just try one more thing.” And honestly, the staff probably already know this happens all the time.

From Sea Salt Affogato To Strawberry BBT, Dessert Therapy Kitchen Won Us Over!

Dessert Therapy has managed to create one of those spaces where you walk in for something sweet but end up staying much longer than expected. Depending on which outlet you visit, the interiors slightly change with the vibe inspired by the locality around it. But there’s one thing they’ve kept constant everywhere: ‘the photo booth’, and you’ll spot it instantly.

It almost feels like a signature part of the experience as informed by the founders of The Dessert Therapy.

But while the café is obviously designed to look aesthetic enough for social media, the food actually backs it up.

Here’s How The Journey Of Indulgence Started For Us!

We walked into the new outlet of The Dessert Therapy at Oshiwara, quarrelling that they only serve dessert. But let me tell you, fans of the older outlets, the Oshiwara one is called ‘The Dessert Therapy Kitchen’, and they have a proper savoury food menu.

So, obviously, we had to check it ourselves. Before desserts even arrived, the Peri Peri Crispy Potatoes quietly stole attention from everything else on the table.

Perfectly fried potato cubes tossed in peri-peri seasoning came layered with marinara and cheese sauce. Crispy outside, soft inside and impossible to stop eating. The kind of dish where everyone keeps saying “last one”, but you want the taste to linger till the last bite.

The truffle fries followed the same energy. Crisp, loaded with flavour and paired with a garlic aioli that honestly deserved its own separate review. Simple comfort food done really well.

The Pasta & Wrap Balanced Things Out

The Mexican Wrap was surprisingly satisfying without feeling overloaded.

The multigrain wrap stayed soft (in a good way) despite being toasted properly, while the vegetables inside still retained texture instead of turning soggy halfway through. Light enough for an evening bite but filling enough not to feel like café food pretending to be a meal.

Then came the Caramelised Onion Rigatoni.  Inspired by French onion soup flavours, the pasta carried deep caramelised notes while the chilli oil running through it gave the dish a much-needed kick. Rich without becoming overwhelming and comforting, slightly indulgent and packed with flavour.

Dessert Therapy Clearly Understands Desserts

Now comes the part they’re actually famous for, and a haven for people with a sweet tooth.

The Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Affogato immediately grabbed attention because of how espresso-forward it was. Instead of drowning the coffee flavours in sugar, the sea salt ice cream balanced the bitterness beautifully while the dark chocolate from Indu added richness throughout.

If you genuinely enjoy coffee-heavy desserts, this one works really well.

The Strawberry Cheesecake Shake felt much lighter in comparison. Airy, smooth and thankfully not overloaded with sweetness. One of those drinks you finish quickly without even realising.

But the real winner for us?

The Strawberry BBT and the fluffy Strawberry Nutella Pancakes.

Easily the best desserts on the table.

The balance of crust, whipped cream and fresh strawberries just worked perfectly together. Every bite had texture without becoming messy and overly sweet. The kind of burnt butter toast that makes you pause for a second after the first bite.

The pancakes, on the other hand, were fluffy, light yet drowned in Nutella and whipped cream. I bet you can’t finish it alone, so get yourself compan,y but don’t miss it out!

Then came the complete opposite energy, Nutella Ferrero Rocher cheesecake. Rich Nutella flavours, crunchy toppings and full Instagram-worthy presentation. Pure dessert overload in the best way possible.

The Red Wine & Berry Coulis cheesecake brought something slightly different with its berry compote and wine reduction flavours cutting through the richness nicely.

And while the Tiramisu tasted absolutely heavenly. For me it could’ve definitely used a slightly stronger coffee hit, but the affogato balanced it out.

There’s A Reason People Keep Returning

One thing you’ll notice at Dessert Therapy is how involved the team is with recommendations.

Ask them what to order and prepare yourself mentally because they’ll probably convince you to try far more than you originally intended. The annoying part?

Most of their suggestions actually end up being worth it.

Even dishes like the Mango Burrata Bowl, which sadly has now been discontinued, showed that the kitchen genuinely experiments beyond basic café menus.

By the end of the meal, Dessert Therapy doesn’t feel like a place you simply visited for desserts. It feels more like one of those cafés you keep returning to whenever you need comfort food, good cheesecakes and an excuse to over-order without guilt.
