Mumbaikars, if you love South Indian food and Bengaluru-style dosas and idlis, there’s good news for you! Bengaluru’s iconic The Rameshwaram Cafe is all set to open its doors to Mumbai. It started as a small QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) restaurant on the streets of Bengaluru, The Rameshwaram Cafe is now a ₹60-crore empire. Curly Tales got an exclusive first look at the restaurant. Read on to know more about this iconic chain.

What Is Special About The Rameshwaram Cafe?

The name “Rameshwaram” was chosen as a homage to Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birthplace, reflecting the restaurant’s desire to root the brand in authentic South Indian flavours. The chain is known for celebrating culture, pure vegetarian food and integrity. Today, The Rameshwaram Cafe has become one of the biggest QSR brands in India. About 15,000 to 20,000 idlis and dosas are made in a day at the restaurant, with a promise to serve “prasad” not just food.

The dishes are prepared here with pure ghee. And after preparation, ghee is generously poured over dishes that almost resemble showers of blessings. The best part? The queue might be longer than expected, but they still serve the order ASAP. The Mumbai outlet is huge, and the food is served just like the way it’s served in a temple, on a banana leaf.

As mentioned on their official website, The Rameshwaram Cafe was born out of a simple idea: to bring the authentic flavours of South India to everyone. Inspired by timeless recipes passed down through generations, it’s a space where food is more than a meal.

What To Try At The Rameshwaram Cafe In Mumbai?

Some of the best sellers you can try at The Rameshwaram Cafe are the ghee podi tatte idli, the button idli, the crispy benne masala dosa, the tomato and tamarind rice and the sakarai pongal.
